I grew up in such a house. From left to right across the front of the house:
garage - living room (front door into right edge of living room)- master bedroom.
back of the house, left to right: kitchen with eating area (same size as living room (back stairs to garage and basement on the left side) - bathroom, smaller bedroom. Hall dividing the house,
running between the smaller bedroom and linen cupboard, built over the basement stairs.
Nothing remarkable in the basement… water heater, forced air furnace, washer hookup. House built 1947, brick front, steel siding elsewhere, pitched roof. 750 sq ft.
